What's happening with the Hub

The Edinburgh Yes Hub, that was kept going since the last referendum, has now closed. The Hub manager, Mike Blackshaw, sadly passed in November 2022, which precipitated the closure. Mike gave his all to the independence campaign and his passing has been a huge blow. However, a number of the volunteers wanted to continue his legacy in a new more central location.

A core group of volunteers and supporters of the old Hub have been working to set up a new Edinburgh Yes Hub as soon as possible. To this end we have set up a Company Limited by Guarantee and are about to hold a public meeting to formally relaunch the Hub. We are looking for premises in central Edinburgh which is going to cost in the order of £6000 in set up costs. To this end we have set up a Go Fund Me page to raise cash to cover initial rent, utilities, fittings and signage etc.

We are also holding a public meeting on 20th May at the Quaker Meeting House to relaunch the Hub and to gather the thoughts of other Yes Groups in Edinburgh and Lothians as to the activities of the new Yes Hub. The meeting is free to attend and tickets are available here.

If you would like to be more involved in building a new Hub in Edinburgh please get in touch with us to be added to our volunteer list.
